The ChatCut editor is one workspace built from 7 dockable panels: chat with the AI on the left, preview in the center, arrange clips on the timeline below. This page names every panel and screen so you always know what you’re looking at.

What are the main panels?

The editor has exactly 7 panels. Four are visible in the default layout; three live as tabs inside the left panel group:

What’s the default layout?

Left to right: the AI panel, then the My Assets tab group (with Library, Templates, and Transcript as sibling tabs — My Assets is the active one), then the Viewer in the center, with the Timeline docked below the Viewer. The Timeline is locked in place; the AI and My Assets panels can be resized.

Which screens exist outside the editor?

Signed-in screens: your project list at /projects, the editor itself at /editor/:id, and the public roadmap at /roadmap. Three screens work without an account: the shared-video viewing page (/v/…, shows the project title, the owner’s username, and a video player), the share-claim page (/share-claim/…), and the phone-upload page (/m/…) for sending files from your phone.

What is the AI panel in ChatCut?

The AI panel is the chat interface where you interact with ChatCut’s AI assistant to generate, edit, and refine your videos. It docks on the left side of the editor by default with an initial width of 490 pixels and a minimum width of 320 pixels. You can use it to describe what you want, and the AI will help you create or modify your video content through text commands.

What is the My Assets panel in ChatCut?

The My Assets panel is your personal media library where all your uploaded videos, images, and audio files are stored and organized. It docks on the left side of the editor by default with an initial width of 346 pixels and is the active tab when you first open a project. From My Assets, you can drag media into your timeline to build your video.

What is the Viewer panel in ChatCut?

The Viewer is the video preview and playback panel where you see your edited video in real-time. It occupies the center of the editor and has a minimum width of 280 pixels. Use the Viewer to monitor your edits, play through your timeline, and review how your video looks before exporting.

What is the Timeline panel in ChatCut?

The Timeline is the multi-track editing workspace where you arrange and trim your video, audio, and text elements. It docks below the Viewer with a default height of 300 pixels and is locked (cannot be closed) so it’s always accessible. Drag clips from My Assets onto the Timeline, adjust timing with the playhead, layer multiple tracks, and fine-tune every element of your video.

What is the Library panel in ChatCut?

The Library panel gives you access to stock and shared media assets in ChatCut. It appears as a tab in the left media panel alongside My Assets and Templates, and starts inactive (not selected), so My Assets stays the selected tab when you first open the editor. Click the Library tab to browse and add ready-made media to your projects without uploading your own files.

What is the Templates panel in ChatCut?

The Templates panel contains pre-designed video templates that you can apply to your project to speed up your editing. It appears as a tab in the left media panel alongside My Assets and Library. Browse the Templates tab, apply a template to your project, and customize it further in the Timeline and Viewer to match your content.

What is the Transcript panel in ChatCut?

The Transcript panel shows a text transcription of your video’s speech, allowing you to edit your video directly from text. It appears as a tab in the left media panel alongside My Assets and Library, and starts inactive (not selected). It sits beside Library rather than in the AI group, so when ChatCut reveals it automatically during AI edits it never covers the AI chat. Click the Transcript tab to edit your video from its speech transcript.
