ChatCut bills through one simple unit: the credit. Editing is free — you pay credits only when AI generates something new for you. This page explains what costs credits, how plans differ, and when credits expire.
What costs credits, and what’s free?
Editing never costs credits: cutting, trimming, captions, transcript editing, and standard exports (MP4, WebM) are free on every plan. Credits are spent when AI generates new content — video generation is the main cost at 0.6 credits per second of generated video (a 10-second clip ≈ 6 credits), and image, voiceover, and music generation each cost credits per item. Transcription is not credit-metered. If a generation fails with an error, no credits are charged.
How do the plans differ?
The free plan gives you the full editor plus a one-time gift of 20 credits. Pro plans differ only in monthly credits — 11 tiers from 100 credits ($25/month) to 10,000 credits ($2,500/month), all at $0.25 per credit — and unlock two premium features: Seedance 2.0 video generation and ProRes 4444 export. There is no feature ladder inside Pro: the smallest tier gets every Pro feature.
What if I run out of credits mid-month?
Buy a one-time credit pack without changing your subscription: 100 credits for $30 up to 800 credits for $240 ($0.30 per credit). Packs are slightly more expensive per credit than subscriptions, so if you buy packs regularly, a bigger tier is cheaper.
When do credits expire?
Monthly subscription credits last 60 days from grant, so unused credits roll over for one extra month. Credit packs and the new-user gift last 365 days.

How many credits does AI video generation cost?
AI video generation costs 0.6 credits per second of generated video. A 10-second clip costs about 6 credits ($1.50); a 15-second clip costs about 9 credits ($2.25). When a generation fails with an error, ChatCut does not charge credits — the error message confirms “No credits charged.”
How many credits does AI image generation cost?
AI image generation cost depends on the model, quality tier, and resolution you pick, since ChatCut converts each model’s USD price into credits at $0.25 per credit. With the gpt-image-2 model at 1024x1024 resolution: low quality costs 0.03 credits per image, medium quality costs 0.22 credits, and high quality (the default) costs 0.85 credits. Other models have different base prices at that same resolution — for example dall-e-3 costs 0.80 credits per image. Larger images cost more: 2K resolution multiplies the base per-image price by 3x and 4K multiplies it by 8x, so a high-quality gpt-image-2 image at 4K resolution costs about 6.76 credits.

How much do AI voiceover and music cost?
Voiceover (text-to-speech) is billed per 1,000 characters, at rates from $0.069 to $0.20 depending on the voice engine — about 0.28 to 0.8 credits per 1,000 characters at the standard $0.25-per-credit rate. Some voices are billed by duration instead, at $0.02 to $0.03 per second, about 0.08 to 0.12 credits per second. Music generation costs $0.045 per generated track, equal to 0.18 credits. Sound effects are billed at $0.03 per second of generated audio, equal to 0.12 credits per second.
